Who can apply?
Profile of the participants:
We are looking for 25 people who:
- are able to work in English;
- are aged between 18-30 (some exceptions for 30+ will be possible);
- are representing/working for an organisation in one of the CoE member countries (if you are not sure about your country’s membership, please consult the website below (http://hub.coe.int/web/coe-portal);
- are working as multipliers in your country/region/network;
- have the capacity/possibility to organize or implement activities and workshops AFTER this training course has ended
- have a deep interest and motivation to learn about how to UNDERSTAND AND WORK WITH CONFLICT
We expect participants to contribute to a highly interactive atmosphere.

For the final selection we will ensure gender balance and a good geographical
representation of Council of Europe countries and its civil society organisations.
As a result of this training, we expect participants to:
- have a deepened understanding of conflict – its nature, levels and dynamics
- reflect on diverse natural styles of dealing with conflict on a personal level, and be able to recognize and understand why and how others deal with their own conflicts
- become aware about the conflict-related issues in Europe – both at the micro and macro levels
- understand how Peace and Human Rights education are frameworks related to conflict
- learn the basics of Nonviolent Communication (NVC)
- have a basic understanding of Conflict Transformation as a holistic way of dealing with conflicts (this is different from Conflict Management and Conflict Resolution!)
- learn about different conflict intervention tools and techniques
- learn about the European Youth Foundation – its youth priorities, activities and how it supports the youth sector
- have a better appreciation of different cultures and backgrounds;
- contribute to the adaptation and evaluation of the training materials that will be used; and
- be able to support and implement follow-up measures that will ensure the “multiplier effect” of the training in the local/community level
Financial conditions
Full board (accommodation and meals) will be provided by the organizers in Barcelona, from lunch on 13 April, until breakfast of 20th April (departure date).
60% of travel expenses and 60% of visa fees will be reimbursed (on presentation of the relevant receipts) according to Council of Europe rules. Only the participants who attend the whole meeting will be reimbursed. Reimbursements will be made by bank transfer after the meeting. Reimbursements in CASH on the last day of the training course will be allowed on a case-by-case basis.
A 30€ participation fee will be deducted from the final amount for reimbursement.

Selection Process
All applications will be reviewed by an evaluating team. Please be specific, straight to the point, and brief in your answers.
Notification
ONLY accepted participants will be informed by 28 February 2013.
Selected participants will be given 3 days to confirm their participation, and if not, their slots will be given to waitlisted participants.
Further information about logistics and other practical information will be provided upon the confirmation of the participant.
Visa process
Participants needing visas to come to Spain are expected to be responsible to make an appointment for their visa in their respective embassies/consulates, and complete all the required documents. The FCV will provide for an official invitation letter, indicating the important information needed. Any other visa related costs, such as insurance will be approved on a case by case basis.
Participants should arrive Barcelona on 13 April, and leave on 20 April.
